Up until last year, the winner of the Heisman Trophy had never been a freshman. Of course, we know that Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel changed that…
Jameis Winston, Florida State’s freshman quarterback, has been absolutely dominant thus far. Through six games, he’s totaled 1,885 yards, 20 touchdowns, and just 3 interceptions.
In the team’s two matchups with ranked teams- #25 Maryland and #5 Clemson- they won by a combined 100 points. ONE HUNDRED POINTS!
However, he has a lot standing in his way. His biggest challengers for the Heisman trophy, it seems, are three quarterbacks- Oregon’s Marcus Mariota, Louisville’s Teddy Bridgewater, and the reigning champ, Johnny Manziel.
So the question is: will we see another freshman win the Heisman?
