1. Buffalo Bills
Johnny Manziel is a very good quarterback, but the key part of his style of play is his running ability. He is very good at running the read option. He is an undersized quarterback, but he is decent in the pocket. The Bills drafted E.J. Manuel last year as a surprise to many. E.J. had an average year as quarterback for the Bills. I think that they like him as their QB, but if Johnny is available when they pick, they can’t pass on someone with talent like him. The Bills might want to upgrade their QB position because it could bring more ticket sales and attention. Johnny is a human highlight reel. With C.J. Spiller in the backfield, the Bills can create an explosive offense with Spiller, Stevie Johnson, Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin. This offense I feel can put up a ton of points.
2. Houston Texans
Johnny Manziel has played football in Texas for his whole career. He grew up in Texas and played college at Texas A&M. Houston conveniently has a glaring hole at QB, since Matt Schaub was ineffective and Case Keenum has been fairly average filling in for Schaub. The Texans need a QB and Manziel is a good fit for him to be close to his college home. He’d be about an hour and a half from his college and would feel comfortable in Houston. Arian Foster could be reborn in an offense filled with read option between him and Johnny. The Texans are a team with immense talent and a good young coach in Bill O’Brian and could really use a new face of the franchise. Also, Bill O’Brian is a former college coach that knows the read option and could create some creative plays to really use his skills.
3. New York Jets
The Jets sure could use a good QB. The QB situation in NY has always been bad. The city needs a good QB. They have a great defense and a nice ground and pound running game. The one thing they don’t have is a QB. Geno Smith is decent and has some poise, but he is not the best QB. The only other position that the Jets really need is a safety and their not a lot of good safeties in this draft. Manziel would have to be put in a QB competition with Geno and that might be good for Geno because it allows him to fight for his job. The Jets finished 8-8 this year with Geno. Imagine what they could do with Manziel instead of an incompetant Geno Smith.
