Why College Football Needs The Four Game Playoff NOW?

College Football is one of the most exciting sports to watch, however less people follow it because it isn’t the top class of football. In order for it to be more respected, they need to limit the postseason to a relatable playoff like in the major pro sports. College Basketball has the NCAA Tournament, which attracts millions upon millions of viewers who can’t wait until this time of year. The NCAA’s method of a football postseason is pretty stupid. It follows the idea of March Madness by extending the playoffs into a month long period. However, they are seperate independent games that features nearly every team with a winning record face off against each other. This isn’t as exciting because people watch the playoffs to watch the most elite players and teams face off against each other. In the BCS, teams like Rice and Ole Miss face off in a lackluster game that has non interest. The NCAA is making little revenue off of these games. If the College Football playoffs were smaller than they would have more interest because it showcases the four most elite teams in primetime showdowns.

Two season’s ago, Alabama faced LSU in an incredible national title game. This game wasn’t as fun to watch because we have seen it before and LSU’s quarterback had a terrible game. Many fans wanted to see a game like Stanford vs. Oklahoma State. This game was played in the Tostito’s Fiesta Bowl. In my opinion this was the better game. You got to see two great explosive teams duking it out. The game was showcased by 2012 top 5 picks Andrew Luck and Justin Blackmon. Because of the current BCS format, we did not get to see Alabama vs. Oklahoma State or LSU vs. Stanford. This is why the NCAA needs to implement its four game playoff format NOW.

So far this year, there has been four really amazing teams, which is hard to decipher who is the leader of the pack. Is it Alabama who has won two BCS National Title Games out of the last three years. Or is it Ohio State who hasn’t lost a game in two seasons. Could it be Florida State whose Redshirt Freshman Jameis Winston is a beast that the NCAA hasn’t seen since Cam Newton. Finally, is it Oregon who recently clobbered the 12th ranked team UCLA. The BCS will have trouble deciding, which of these teams are worthy of the NCAA title game. Whoever they decide, the teams that aren’t picked are going to complain and they deserve to complain because even though they had a stellar season, they are considered second class teams compared to those who are selected.

The NCAA 4 game playoff would be good for this years playoffs because it will decipher who is the best among the best. It should be implemented into the rules and eliminate the BCS ASAP
